Y’all I had chosen these colours through a poll on my favourite group on Facebook: Mishaddicted.
To be fair, they just solidified which colours I already thought suited our boys best! I wasn’t too sure when I started on the bubble stitch hat though, a few rows in and I thought… the blue and teal don’t go together well, but both go with the green so I decided to alternate and end up using more green than either of the blue or the teal!
The finished product isn’t *too* bad, and members have had positive feedback, the prototype is still for sale though!
Now the version 2.0 with the colour blocks, I could tell straight away I liked this design better. I do love the effect of bubble stitching, painstaking though it is to knit! But those colours in blocks are just gorgeous!
I wanted to do something different with the tassels, and wanted them loooonger than the ones on the ‘Jayne’ hat, so I added a string of each of the other colours and braided them. I love how they came out! Though next time I’ll do 2 strings of all 3 colours, make them a bit more substantial. Let me know if you think I should group each part of the braid with the same colour or mix and match!

Now the Castiel hats… the navy and the iconic Trenchcoat™ beige look wonderful together, the ‘kingfisher blue’ shade popping out like Misha’s eyes do… sorry getting side tracked!
Again, the blue and the navy didn’t feel like they sat well together side by side so the tan too centre stage. Lets face it, if I’m calling the hat a ‘Castiel’ inspired hat, the Trenchcoat colour had to be the focus right?
I’m working on version 2.0, which will be the same style as the Destiel 2.0, but I will do the tassels with 2 strings of each colour. I might try out different braiding on each side (one with mix and match colour strings, one grouped) and see what you guys think on the group before tying them off and setting the design properly!
I’ve started adding the international shipping options to my Etsy shop for my further away friends, it’s not cheap, cause Royal Mail is not cheap… and beause of the pompoms on all my hats everything counts as a ‘small parcel’ rather than a ‘large letter’. They’re just too thick! Plus I’m loathe to not have tracking on items going further afield… but I will add that as it’s cheaper. Probably better to upgrade so we both know where it is, but that I’ll leave up to each buyer!
I finished the second hat… but I messed up the pompom and am waiting on a delivery for more of the blue to be able to remake it, it had used the very *last* of that blue!
